The Sangiovese grape originates
in the Tuscany Region of Italy where it is the dominant
fruit used in the well known Chianti wines. Our
Sangiovese is all estate grown. It has rich and
complex flavors that are easy on the pallet. This
is Jim’s favorite. It is especially good with
Pasta and Pam’s Italian Sauce.

The Merlot is also estate grown
and is Pam’s favorite. It has great color
and soft fruity flavors. Historically the grape
comes from the Bordeaux region of France but widely
grown and enjoyed in California.

Zinfandel has a long history in
California and for many years accounted for the
highest acreage of planted wine grapes. While
many regions of California continue to grow very
good Zinfandel, there is nothing like the robust
flavors found in foothill Zinfandel. You will
like its’
deep color and rustic flavor.

Our Cabernet Sauvignon fruit comes
from the Tuolumne County vineyards of Ron Peterson
whose vineyard is located on the picturesque Old
Wards Ferry Road and from John Griffin whose vineyard
is nestled in the hollows of Potato Ranch Road.
We have blended the fruit from these two vineyards
and have achieved a classic Cab to be enjoyed by
all who lean to the traditional Cab taste. This
is the favorite of Dennis, the Vineyard and Winery
Operations Manager.

Starting with pleasant aroma
of roasted coffee, this wine has a creamy texture
and silky smooth finish. This fruit comes from
the vineyard of La Bella Rosa on Old Wards Ferry
Rd. in Sonora

Red
table wine
We honor the family name of Tartaglia,
lost but not forgotten on
Ellis Island in 1903, in this red wine which is
blended to enjoy at all occasions and which we recommend
you drink from a standard glass tumbler (un bicchiere)
the way the Italians often do at their own tables.
You don’t need to swirl this wine. Just look
for the twinkle.

Demand for Meritage wine blends started in the 80's and this love affair is growing again. Twice Red fits the profile and has become a favorite in the tasting room. It is a blend of 50% Merlot, that contributes light ripe fruit forward, and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon that adds a bold finish. enjoy with grilled meats and herb infused vegetable dishes.

This wine is a blend of 80% Estate Sangiovese with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. If this wine came from the Chianti region of Italy, which is very similar in character to Tuolumne County, it would be considered a Super Tuscan. This is a great Italian style wine that pairs well with red sauces on items such as raviolis, lasagna and pizza. Salute'

white table wine
This
wine and its name were inspired by a family member
from our Italian heritage, Enrico Caruso. Caruso,
a well known opera singer in the early 1900’s,
was first cousin to Jim Costello’s Great Grandmother.
This wine is a blend of California foothill white
varietals designed to provide a light, crisp taste
for all occasions. The ‘Great Caruso’
was known as a tenor’s tenor. This wine will
not make you a ‘great’ singer, but it
will put a twinkle in your eye.

This is a dry blush style wine made from our Estate Sangiovese grapes after removing the juice from their skins. This wine has rich hints of peach champagne, soft but not sweet, and pairs really well with seafood and cheese samplers.

This Port is a must try for all port lovers. This is a blend of three separate ports made from Tinto Cao, Sangiovese, and Zinfandel varietals. It is best paired with chocolate of course but is great right at the end of any meal. This wine is presented in a wonderfully attractive bottle that makes it a great gift as well.
